Character Analysis (Damien)

DAMIEN

Damien is the main bad guy in the film, he is Roxy's husband and is a tempremental character, One minute he is nice, the next he is beating her and accusing her of looking at other men. He is a jealous angry type and is not to be messed with. He knows many a lot of people that do a lot of bad things and even kill for money. But unlucky for him that the Hitman he calls on that fatal night has an unsteady trigger finger.

Character Analysis (The Hitman)

THE HITMAN

This character only has a small part in the film, but plays one of the most important parts to make the story develop. He mistakenly kills someone else instead of the femme fatale (Roxy). As he is a murderer he is going to be wearing dark/black clothing, so that he doesnt get seen by anyone, this obviously adds to the effect on this character and makes him a shady, mysterious character.

Character Analysis (Harry Goodman)

    HARRY GOODMAN

This Character's name is Harry Goodman he is the main protaganist. In the film he is a journalist for a newspaper and writing a column on a play that is in the broadway theater. He tries to protect the femme fatale (Roxy) from her husband who is actually the director of the play.
The two different outfits have different meanings. The one in the red shirt is when Harry is less in control and is a bit more all over the place and vunerable.
The image on the right is when Harry is more in control and knows what he is doing, he definitely shows to be the most dominant character in this costume.

L.A. Confidential Film Review

Based on the best selling novel by James Ellroy and directed by Curtis Hanson, the stunning, immaculate, award winning crime drama explores the dark side of Los Angeles and its police force. The Hush, Hush feel of the movie intrigues the audience and keeps you submersed. The question is how long will it keep the audience under? L.A. Confidential is a fast, murderous, star filled classic! The 1950s based Neo Noir is set in a drugged up City of Angels, where it follows three LAPD officers caught up in corruption. The three clever cops played by Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kevin Spacey try to solve a murder frenzy at the Nite Owl coffee shop. But as the story develops they get deeper and deeper into the crime filled city.
Heroin, organized crime, prostitution and institutional racism breaks down the previously strong cops one by one. Prostitution brings down the physical Bud (Crowe) as well as the young smart detective Exley (Pearce). As the story gets deeper and harder to follow Jack (Spacey) is taken down by the organised crime due to getting to close to solving the crime and the skeletons in the closet.
This dirty but clean cut film is a must watch for ANY movie goer. The open setting of L.A. is a beautiful place for the ugly goings on in the film. It takes the audience through twists and turns, suburbs to cities and zeroes to heroes. Confidential smashed the box office in 1997 and is still a classic and always will be, how many more reasons do you need to watch it?

Potential Locations

These are some screenshots of the places that we could potentially film at, this first one is at the train station, I like this shot because you can see straight down the road, so you could see a car driving quickly up it too a holt, which would be really effective, I also like the light and mirror in the shot, we can use this mirror very effectively as it refeclts all the way down the stairs.
This is the same image as the one before but blown up so it focuses more on the mirror and light. The light will be very important at night, it will stand out more and create good shadows.
This is the underground tunnel under the train station this will be where the femme fatale is followed off of the train and how she gets to work and home. When someone walks into the shot you first see their feet and as they get further away from the camera it reveals more of the character and the sound of footsteps gets quieter.
